I love photographing boys of course, but as a mom of boys I get SO excited to experience the world of little girls. So when this client and I talked about vintage dresses and a tea party, I spent some real time planning for the setup — which was particularly challenging because we were in the dead of winter — not your traditional “tea party” look. I knew the goal was tasteful whimsy — nothing over the top — so a balance had to be achieved and the items I’d had on hand were just better suited for Spring (and can’t wait to use them soon). Ultimately, I decided to embrace the winter look, a trip to Hobby Lobby helped, and I went with a deep purple and blue palette — plus mom brought purple hair pieces for the girls that tied it all together perfectly. This was a session within a session really, so I’ll post their family photos separately.
